IMPORTANT CHANGES TO STAMP DUTY FOR FIRST HOME BUYERS



As you may already know, the government will be reducing the transfer duty exemption threshold for first home buyers from $500,000 to $430,000 from 1 July 2014.

The concession will then phase out between $430,000 and $530,000, which is down from the current $600,000.

However the good news is that if you sign a contract before the end of this month, you may still be exempt from paying stamp duty on property valued up to $530,000.
